Hi, I am Maud DeKraker, a retired computer programmer. I love to travel the world, see wildlife and take photos. Most of the photos on this site are mine. So this blog shows you the world as I see it. I have traveled to all seven continents, over 60 countries and 44 states. In recent years, I have mostly visited the developing world. I love adventure travel and have been to Africa four times for safaris. I love photographing animals in the wild.

Playing is important to me, so I never miss an opportunity to take a hot air balloon ride, ride on a zip line, and to snorkel. I swam with the pink dolphins in the Amazon River, and hiked on Komodo Island to see the Komodo Dragons. I have planted mangrove trees to help protect coast in Thailand from being eroded by rising sea levels.

Touristy things are fun and so I enjoy riding camels, elephants, yaks, and ride in carts pulled by oxen or horses, and ride in cyclo-rickshaws.
Small boats are enjoyable to me, so I go on rivers and through the small byways to see the countryside. I also love white water rafting and other adventurous things.
At home, I love to hike and water ski. I have a husband, Dave, who usually prefers to stay home to play golf and bridge while I travel. We have three children and nine grandchildren.
